Angle Steel

Product Introduction

Angle Steel is a kind of long strip steel with a right-angled "L" cross-section. It consists of two mutually perpendicular edges (referred to as "legs" or "limbs") and a connecting part in the middle (referred to as "root"). According to the difference in the length of the two legs, Angle Steel categorized into ‘Equal Angle Steel’(equal legs) and ‘Unequal Angle Steel’ (unequal legs).

For example: equal Angle: two legs equal length (such as 50 * 50 * 5 mm, said two legs every 50 mm long, the thickness of 5 mm). Unequal Angle: two different leg length (such as 100 x 80 x 8 mm, 100 mm long legs, short legs, 80 mm, the thickness of 8 mm).

Mainly through the following two kinds of process manufacturing:  

1.The hot rolling Angle steel 
The billet heated to 1200 ℃ or so, through many times rolling forming "L" type section, after cooling cutting into standard length (usually 6 to 12 metres). 
Features: high strength, low cost, the surface has a scale, to subsequent processing (such as sand blasting, galvanized). 
Standard: GB/T 706 (China), ASTM A36 (USA) and EN 10056 (Europe). 

2.The Cold-formed Angle steel 
It is made from hot rolled steel plate or steel strip as raw material, and bent into an "L" shape at room temperature through the roll forming process.
Features: smooth surface, high dimensional accuracy, but the strength is slightly lower than hot rolled bar, suitable for lightweight structure. 
Standard: GB/T 6725 (Chinese cold bending steel), JIS G3350 (Japan).

Application Fields
Lightweight structure (shelves, furniture) : Select Q235B or SS400, with a thickness of 3-5mm, and the surface can be painted. 
overloaded engineering (Bridges, plant) : use Q355B or S275JR, 10-20 mm, thickness should be hot dip galvanized anti-rust. 
high corrosive environment (coastal, chemical) : priority or weathering steel, stainless steel thickness design according to the load demand.
